Medieval Europe, c. 8th-12th century AD. Fabulous bronze icon depicting 3 saints or apostles. The central figure is nimbate, holding Book of Gospels, right hand held up in benediction. Inscription across top (illegible). The back with floral designs. Hinged on one side, originally clasped to a larger object. Olive-green patina, light earthen deposits. Wonderful detail!
