Ancient Egypt. Late Period, Dynasty 30, c. 380 - 343 BC. An large and stunning Egyptian faience ushabti, a burial figure left in the tomb of the dead to serve as a servant in the afterlife. Depicted mummiform on integral base, wearing striated wig with false beard, arms folded at chest, hands holding a pick and hoe, bag over left shoulder and vertical plinth down back. The lower portion of the front of the body with 7 registers of well molded hieroglyphic text. An extremely well-preserved example with glossy deep green glaze and incredible style and detail!
