Product Description
Byzantine Empire, c. 582-1081 AD. Small collection of 5 Byzantine bronze coins. Mostly “portrait of Christ” types depicting the facing bust of Christ, with crosses or “Jesus Christ King of Kings” inscriptions on the back, dating from the reigns of John I (969 - 976 AD) through Nicephorus III (1078 - 1081 AD), one having been heavily over-struck. Included as well is a bronze half-follis Maurice Tiberius, 582-602 AD, with his portrait on one side and a large “K” on the other.
