Ancient Persia. Luristan, c. 1000-700 BC. A fantastic, museum-worthy gilded bronze Master of Animals finial. A bronze tubular sceptre finial comprised of a bell-shaped mouth and openwork upper section in the form of a bifacial stylized figure, the Master of Animals. The figure is depicted with two feline hindlegs, flared skirt and belt, arms encircling various stylized creatures. Excellent detail, smooth green patina with traces of gilding still evident.
