Ancient Roman Silver Medical Tool With Cross
Product Description
Ancient Rome, 2nd-3rd century AD. Rare Roman silver medical tool, made out of a bent and modified stylus. The stylus was an ancient writing tool which originally would have been used by a scribe to write upon a wax tablet. One end sharp for writing, the other a wedge shaped terminal to be used as an "eraser" to fix errors. The piece has been bent and modified to be used in medical applications, and a small cross engraved into the flattened end. A rare piece with quite a remarkable history.
