"Oak Island Type" Coin! Spanish copper cob. "Pirate Money" of Philip IV (1621-1665 AD). Copper 8-Maravedis "cob" struck c. 1625 depicting a lion and castle. Heavily counterstamped with "1641”, “VIII” and "8" when revalued in 1641. ref: Cayon 5305 for type. The exact same type found at Oak Island, Nova Scotia! Nearly identical to the copper 8-Maravedis "Cob" discovered by the guys on Oak Island, as featured in the History Channel show "Curse of Oak Island" which I am a consultant for and have been interviewed on. The island has a known history of pirates, having been a safe haven for Captain Kidd. This coin offered is the same type, however land-found in Spain. Coin ex Cordoba, Spain collection .Encapsulated and certified by NGC. An excellent specimen! Archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”.
