Exceptional Indus Valley Head // 4th - 5th Century AD
Product Description
An exquisite Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, c. 4th-5th Century AD. It is 3.75” high and portrays a unique individual sporting a jaunty mustache. His long wavy hair is beautifully detailed, and is held in place with a fancy, ornament-studded headdress that has flowers woven into it. Traces of red pigment typical of the Hadda types are visible in his hair. An absolutely stunning portrait, in excellent condition, with good mineral deposits.
