This Antique Chinese Gilded Wood Quan Yin statue originated in the early-mid 20th century AD. It is a wood statue. The surfaces still exhibit much of their original gilding with traces of red details still visible. Quan Yin (also spelled Guan Yin or Kuan Yin) is the bodhisattva of great compassion. A bodhisattva is an earthly human being who has made a vow to dedicate all of their lifetimes to the enlightenment of all humankind. Having made this their vow, Bodhisattvas continuously reincarnate and return to the world to help guide others to enlightenment.
