Product Description

A nice Spanish Colonial wood santos, c. 17th-19th century AD. Depicting the a standing saint, wearing long robes and haircut reminiscent of a Catholic friar of the Colonial period. He holds in his left hand the Bible, his right hand once was upraised but lost in antiquity. The remaining hole indicates this arm might have been articulated originally. Traces of gilding still visible on base and areas of the body along with other polychrome remnants.
