Product Description
A fantastic Byzantine Empire bronze stamp seal with large cross, c. 6th-8th century AD. A large and heavy seal, square in form, deeply engraved with a central elaborate cross, with four pellets in the quarters. The back with the original small suspension loop, the hole still fused with remnants of the original iron chain, which also left iron deposits in a somewhat semicircular pattern on the back. Gorgeous green patina with light earthen deposits in the crevices. The impression shown in temporary soft blue clay.
