Holy Land, Judaea, Iron Age, c. 1200 - 536 BCE. Old Testament period, from the time of the Judaean Monarchy between Moses and the Assyrian conquests. A nice wheel-made buff clay oil lamp with pinched spout and rounded bottom. See Noam Adler, Oil Lamps of the Holy Land, Cf. Bussiere & Rivel, Lampes Antiques de Méditerranée (Oxford, 2012), p. 52, nos. 3-4 for similar examples. Intact with some hairline cracks and chipping, earthen and mineral deposits. Small old excavation number inked on base.
