Himalayan sea salt is a special kind of pink salt that can only be harvested from ancient deposits in the Great Salt Mountain Range. The range, formed almost 250 million years ago, was part of the Himalayas until shifting landmasses slowly moved it 200 miles to it's current resting place in Pakistan.

Unlike the regular salt harvested from today's ocean water, which contains nothing but sodium chloride, (not to mention potential elements of pollution or contaminants), Himalayan salt is distilled from sea waters that flooded the earth long before humans or industry. Even now, the deposits high in the mountains have been untouched for millions of years. It is considered the purest form of salt on earth, and is rich with minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium, which give it that distinctive pink shade, and the unique quality of releasing negative ions into the air as it evaporates.

This collection of Himalayan salt lamps from Ambion are designed to attract the moisture in the air, which clings to the surface of the salt crystals until it's dissipated by the heat from the integrated LEDs, releasing these negative ions into your living or working space.

Once released, the negative ions work to rid the surrounding air of positive ions, which are created by everything from radiation, to toxins, and the interference output of electrical devices.
