Can you run this with people in the room?

Yes, all of our units are safe for proper use in occupied spaces.

How effective is it for eliminating tobacco smoke odor from vehicles?

Over the years, a number of smokers (or friends of smokers) have used the Air Angel very effectively in cars that people regularly smoke in with fantastic results. The Air Angel has also effectively been used in smoking hotel rooms for nonsmokers and other related applications. It features the same technology used by our commercial clients in casinos, cigar rooms, and in smoke remediation after fires.

Has this been FAA approved for travel?

The Air Angel has undergone rigorous testing and certification including Etl Listed (Ul867), and CARB certification. It requires just 11 watts of electricity (less than most light bulbs). It has no specific approval from the FAA. The use of electronic devices is largely governed by Airline policies and country-specific regulations. We recommend checking with your airline prior to travel regarding their specific policies, as some airlines restrict the use of many electronic devices including all air purifiers.

What is a AHPCO?

The AHPCO Cell contains the germicidal UV light and Advanced Hydrated PhotoCatalytic Oxidation (AHPCO) technology. It is recommended to replace once a year for optimal efficacy as the UV light is a bulb that begins to fade and eventually goes out. It's extremely simple to replace, like changing out a battery.

How much does the UV light cost to replace?

The AHPCO cell for this unit is $45 at www.hypoair.com. The cell should be replaced yearly.

Would it be suitable for a grow room? ( hydroponics/indoor)

Yes, the Air Angel is going to have a significant impact on mold and other toxins. If it's sufficient for your needs or not is really going to depend on the levels of mold present and how dense the number of your growing areas. If you are unsure, the Air Oasis 1000 will cover a larger area (300-1000 ft2) or a higher concentration of contaminants.

How loud is it?

This has a quiet fan inside; it is not rated in sones or decibels but very low white noise sound.

Does this eliminate dust particles?

This unit is not the most effective method to eliminate dust particles but is quite effective against allergens.

D you have to be outside the room while it is operating?

No, it's safe to be in the same room with this unit. UV light is only dangerous when you're exposed directly to it (i.e. looking directly at the sun).
In the Air Angel, the UV is ONLY inside of the unit surrounded by the AHPCO metal catalyst and the shell of the unit. No UV light is being used outside the unit.

Can we use it in Europe?

Yes, it can accept multiple voltages with the right outlet plug adapter.

What is the model number?

Does this unit need to run continuously to be effective?

Effectiveness does increase over run time, but it also depends on the rate of introduction of new contaminants (for example, leaving windows closed vs. opening them). If placed in a bedroom, you may choose to turn it on a few hours before sleeping and leaving it on through the night.

How does the electrical source work on planes?

The Air Angel still requires a power source so plugging into outlets on planes is possible (and advisable given the option). Access to plugs on planes and policies vary airline to airline so we always recommend checking with your airline for availability and rules.

How can the UV light effective to destroy bad air pollutants when it is enclosed in the machine?

The UV germicidal light is part of the AHPCO Catalyst inclosed in the chamber, but it is only a small part of the purification process. UV light requires a direct line of sight in order to be effective, but it wouldn't be safe to use outside of a chamber in a room without protection (i.e. you're not supposed to look directly at the sun). Other than the the sq. footage capabilities, are their any differences between the air angel and oasis 1000?

The AO1000 is part of the G3 series which also incorporates polar ionization.
