Jasper Johns, Map
Product Description
A traditional schoolhouse map was used to create this colorful piece of American art. Jasper Johns used his unpredictable sense of color and shape to paint over the map, entirely transforming it, while maintaining the lines of our 50 states. The seemingly random lines and drips of paint are a trademark of Johns' effortless sense of artistry.

In 1958 he had his first one-man exhibition, a rousing success. The paintings Johns went on to produce depict commonplace, two-dimensional subjects such as flags, targets, maps, numbers, and letters of the alphabet."
