Babe Ruth HOF Yankees Signed/Inscribed Baseball to Roy Del Ruth JSA 193138

Offered is a Babe Ruth single signed baseball inscribed to Roy Del Ruth - Director of “The Babe Ruth Story.” c.1948.  Inscribed on the side panel of an unmarked baseball using a fountain pen reads, “To my good friend Roy Del Ruth, From Babe Ruth.” The autograph rates 7 out of 10 and the ball displays even toning with mild general surface wear throughout. Roy Del Ruth enjoyed a long career in Hollywood starting as a writer in 1915 and he would shift to producing and directing by the end of that decade. By the 1930s he was working with some of the biggest names on the silver screen. With news of Babe Ruth’s failing health hitting newspapers in 1948 a movie about his life was rushed into production and Del Ruth signed on as director. Babe spent a lot of time on set and took part in the production even though significant liberties were taken with regard to historical accuracy.
